The winner of the first-ever N.W. Dible Foundation Songwriting Scholarship at Musicians Institute is the multi-talented Bachelor’s Degree student Linn Holmstedt.
A lifelong musician and experienced session musician who comes to MI by way of Sweden, Linn has had the opportunity to sing a variety of styles of music, with a preference for soul, blues and rock genres.
Upon learning about her award, Linn explained that she chose to study at MI because “I’ve wanted to study at MI since I was around 15 years old. I’ve known about the school for many years. I drew inspiration from having MI alumni as a part of my High school faculty and watching previous MI graduation keynote speakers/performances like Alice Cooper or Shelia E., I was so inspired by the school’s history and culture, I knew it was the one.”
During her studies, she plans to focus on “honing my skills and development as a singer and musician. With guidance from the amazing faculty, I feel I have the opportunity to develop the tools necessary to succeed as a singer, songwriter and artist.”
After MI, Linn’s primary career aspirations are to: “make a living as a singer for the rest of my life, travel the world, and share the magic of music with people. I want to keep writing music and maybe one day those songs could make someone’s day a little better, or make someone a little happier.” She added, “I recently embarked on a new project alongside guitarist Marcus Lundqvist, a blues/soul band called Swedish Highcoast Ensemble. We are managed under Sparam Entertainment and are currently working on our debut EP. Together we write the music for the project and I am so excited to soon be sharing it with the world!”
Everyone at Musicians Institute congratulates Linn on this achievement, and we look forward to seeing her reach her full potential while at MI.
