Musicians Institute and The Musicians Foundation are pleased to announce that current MI student Chase Carpenter is the recipient of the Spring 2019 Takamine Acoustic Guitar Scholarship. Chase comes to MI’s Guitar Program from McHenry, Illinois with several years of acoustic and electric guitar experience, in multiple genres including rock, classical guitar, country and rock/metal.
Chase shared what has impacted him the most during his MI Guitar Program studies has been “gaining a greater understanding of complex music theory and being able to apply it to my music: key changes, modal interchange; charts. This understanding has changed me by allowing me to be more melodic and more creative in my playing/composing and has given me great inspiration. Being surrounded daily by teachers who encourage and provide what is needed to advance in the music industry has also been life changing.”
Chase sees his MI education as an important key to achieving his dream of one day being able to “encompass all aspects of the music industry; to become a high quality performer as a lead guitarist with range and expertise for longevity, to develop a performing persona and to play with a wide range of other performers. I also want to develop backup vocals, knowledge of recording, to manage the business of rights and agreements and to develop/manage my own band.”
Everyone at MI congratulates Chase on winning this prestigious scholarship award, as he continues his studies at MI!
