SPRING 2018 LIQUID CINEMA BACHELOR OF MUSIC IN COMPOSITION SCHOLARSHIP WINNER: BRENT ALLRED

Brent Allred

Brent Allred  is the winner of the Liquid Cinema Bachelor of Music in Composition Scholarship at Musicians Institute.  The newly enrolling Bachelor’s Degree in Composition Program (Scoring for Visual Media) student comes to MI by way of Selma, Indiana, having composed original music primarily in orchestral-based genres (as well as mixing electronic sounds with the orchestra), choral compositions and cinematic soundtracks.

Upon learning about his award, Brent explained that he chose to study at MI because “MI is one of the only schools in the country that offers a degree in composing for visual media. Most music colleges require a primary instrument in order to obtain a degree. The strict focus on composition was appealing to me. I want to be fully immersed in writing music, instead of completing requirements that do not apply to my career interest.

During his studies, he plans to focus on “developing my music theory knowledge so that I can bring clarity to my music, and intentionality.

After MI, Brent’s three primary career aspirations are to:

“1) Develop a company that digitally renders composer’s compositions using the highest-grade sample libraries developed today.

2) Develop an organization that puts more money into the hands of the composer holding his/her intellectual property, cutting out third party marketing platforms such as ITunes, and Spotify. I have developed a new marketing model for music that I believe has the ability to revolutionize the distribution of music.

3) Develop a studio that creates music for motion picture and video games.”

Everyone at Musicians Institute congratulates Brent on this achievement, which marks a great beginning to his studies. We look forward to seeing him reach his full potential while at MI.

Special thanks to Liquid Cinema for generously sponsoring this scholarship, which helps to provide talented students like Brent with the support, tools and recognition they need to launch successful and creative careers in the music industry.
