The fall 2016 Schecter Synyster Gates Guitar Scholarship at Musicians Institute (created to honor the successful career of GIT grad and Avenged Sevenfold guitarist Synyster Gates), has been awarded to Logan Kalsch.
Logan comes to MI from The Dalles, Oregon, and is entering the Associate of Arts in Performance (Guitar) Program having demonstrated outstanding musicianship in various genres with a specific focus in Instrumental Rock.
When asked why he chose to study at MI, he states “I chose to study at Musicians Institute because it’s the best school (in my opinion) for playing contemporary music on the guitar. The curriculum for guitar degrees and certificates is thoroughly developed and has guided MI alumni to success, and I hope the same to ring true for me.”
While attending Musicians Institute, Logan will focus on “developing virtuosity on the guitar, learning essential skills to become a session player and/or write and perform my own music. I am also interested studying Jazz Fusion and Classical styles.”
He described his longterm future goals as follows “my dream is to become a virtuoso guitarist who performs music with other accomplished musicians. I would love to write and perform my own music, but that kind of success is rare and in that circumstance I wish to be the best session musician I can be.”
Everyone at MI congratulates Logan on winning this prestigious award that honors both the growing legacy and career of Guitar Program alumnus (Synyster Gates) and supports the education and of a talented, evolving, and very deserving metal/rock guitarist!
Special thanks to our longtime industry partner, Schecter Guitar Research for generously sponsoring this scholarship, which helps to provide talented students like Logan with the support, tools and recognition they need to launch successful and creative careers in the music industry.
