Mehdi Discusses Sound Design
Today, nearly 200 high school students were treated to a very informative and highly entertaining class: Introduction to Foley Recording and Editing taught by Musicians Institute’s own Mehdi Hassine at The Grammy Museum‘s Clive Davis Theater.

Using Protools
Using professional sound libraries and movie scene analysis, the veteran Musicians Institute instructor (and top studio engineer and industry consultant in production and post-production) demonstrated the recording and editing techniques involved in synchronizing background and sound effects as well as what is involved in Foley sessions (footsteps and props) for film.

One of the students shows us his amazing Foley skills armed only with a bucket and barefeet.
Now in our fifth year of co-sponsoring free classes for high school students at The Grammy Museum that span contemporary music styles, sampling, beatmaking, film composing, music technology, music business, songwriting, music video creation and rhythm workshops– we are proud to have shared the expertise, diverse knowledge and incredible talents of MI’s faculty with more than 5,000 students from the greater LA area.
