The winner of the fall 2014 Bachelor of Music Composition Scholarship is classically trained, Singapore native Renhui (Renny) Goh who comes to Musicians Institute armed with many years of experience both as a composer and performer in a fusion of pop, folk, electronic, acoustic and classical genres.

Upon learning about her award, (for her submission of two original compositions) Renny explains that she chose to study at MI because of  “meeting like-minded peers and being in a positive learning environment, and MI’s detailed curriculum for my course.  I know that the instructors are professionals who are in the industry, and that is always important because as musicians we want to be at the forefront of change.”

While at MI, she will focus on learning “everything I can possibly absorb!  I’m really looking forward to learning from the curriculum and from my peers. Everyone is coming in with different musical backgrounds, strengths and perspectives, it will be a beautiful experience to be in such close proximity to such passionate individuals”.

She adds “my goals as a singer-songwriter are to eventually produce my own songs or album, and be able to fully understand the musical direction I want to head towards. As a composer, I would aspire to be as versatile as possible, develop a sound of my own and be able to offer this edge to clients and peers alike”.

Everyone at MI congratulates Renhui on this achievement, which marks a great beginning to her studies. We look forward to seeing her reach her full potential while at MI.

Special thanks to Gilt City Los Angeles, whose generous donations fund this scholarship, which helps to provide talented students like Renhui with the support, tools and recognition they need to launch successful and creative careers in the music industry.
