Coming to Musicians Institute from Lucerne Valley, California, talented progressive rock guitarist Mark French has been chosen as winner of the fall 2013 Schecter Jerry Horton Guitar Scholarship, named in honor of the Papa Roach guitarist.
Asked why he decided to attend MI’s Guitar Program, Mark states that he wants to “become a better player in all genres and become a more accomplished and refined musician. MI is a great place to thrive as a musician and there are so many other musicians to learn from. MI is widely known for having successful alumni in the professional studio and performing world.”
He sees his MI studies as an important key to achieving his dream of one day being able to “become a paid touring musician. I can think of no better job than to get paid to tour the country/world and play in front of large crowds. I’m interested in studio work and teaching guitar as well.”
Everyone at MI welcomes Mark to the Guitar Program (GIT) at MI, and congratulates him on winning this very prestigious award!
Special thanks to our longtime industry partner, Schecter Guitar Research for generously sponsoring this scholarship, which helps to provide talented students like Mark with the support, tools and recognition they need to launch successful and creative careers in the music industry.
