Congratulations to ESP Bass Scholarship winner Shawn Paavola who comes to Musicians Institute from Baltimore, MD already armed with serious funk chops.

Asked why he chose to study in the Bass Program at MI, Shawn states: “I hope to learn every style of bass playing at MI, broaden my general musical knowledge, and increase my skill ten fold.  MI is the best school in the country to learn contemporary music and how the modern music industry works.”

He adds that his career goals are “to change the history of music forever as we enter into this new age of sound and make music that will exist long after I’m dead. But, I’ll settle for having a sustained career in the music industry with enough income to raise a family!

Everyone at MI congratulates Shawn on this achievement, which marks a great beginning to his studies. We look forward to seeing him reach his full potential while at MI.

Special thanks to our longtime industry partner, The ESP Guitar Company for generously sponsoring this scholarship, which helps to provide talented students like Shawn with the support, tools and recognition they need to launch successful careers in the music industry.
