Stanley Clarke Scholarship Winners for 2013 are Announced!

The Musicians Foundation is exceptionally pleased to announce that in lieu of our usual live performance event for the 2013 Stanley Clarke Scholarship at Musicians Institute (postponed until Spring 2014); and because we’ve received a tremendous number of impressive scholarship application DVDs, we’ve acknowledged the TOP TEN DVD SUBMISSIONS by awarding ten winners with the following award based on musical talent, performing ability, stage presence, musicianship and charisma in any style or genre of music.  

  • A one-time $1,000 tuition discount to be applied either to your current (summer quarter, AA or Bachelor’s) tuition balance owed, or to the Fall 2013 quarter tuition for any AA or Bachelor’s performance program at MI.  

The Musicians Foundation is very pleased to acknowledge the talent, performing ability, and musicianship of the top ten winners, and we are extremely proud of the passion, musical talent and commitment of the nearly 60 MI students who submitted their impressive DVD’s for consideration this year.

ESP Outstanding Bass Player Scholarship for Summer 2013 at Musicians Institute is Announced!

The Musicians Foundation is pleased to announce the creation of an exciting new scholarship to be awarded to currently enrolled students in the Bass Program at Musicians Institute for Fall 2013.  

The ESP Outstanding Bass Player Scholarship is provided to encourage and support the educational growth of currently enrolled Bass Program students.

The ESP Outstanding Bass Player Scholarship, sponsored by the ESP Guitar Company, will be awarded in the Summer 2013 quarter to current students enrolled in the Associate of Arts in Performance (Bass) program who demonstrate outstanding musicianship and versatility.

There will be a “Bass-off” finals competition event for the top five applicant finalists on August 26th in the MI Concert Hall at 6pm; with guest judges from ESP Guitar Company and MI Bass faculty.

Awards:

  • FIRST PRIZE: Tuition credit of $1,000.00 ($1,000.00 for the FA-13 quarter (only) of the program as long as the recipient maintains satisfactory progress), and a new ESP bass.
  • SECOND PRIZE: Tuition credit of $500.00 ($500.00 for the FA-13 quarter (only) of the program as long as the recipient maintains satisfactory progress)
  • THIRD PRIZE: Tuition credit of $250.00 ($250.00 for the FA-13 quarter (only) of the program as long as the recipient maintains satisfactory progress)
  • FOURTH PRIZE: Tuition credit of $150.00 ($150.00 for the FA-13 quarter (only) of the program as long as the recipient maintains satisfactory progress)
  • FIFTH PRIZE: Tuition credit of $100.00 ($100.00 for the FA-13 quarter (only) of the program as long as the recipient maintains satisfactory progress)

The Ross Bolton Memorial Funk Guitar Scholarship at Musicians Institute is Announced!

The Musicians Foundation is pleased to announce the creation of an exciting new scholarship to be awarded to a currently enrolled student in the Guitar Program at Musicians Institute for Fall 2013.  

The Ross Bolton Memorial Funk Guitar Scholarship was created to honor the memory, exceptional talent and artistic career of longtime MI Guitar Program (GIT) faculty (1986-2013) and alumni (MI class of 1980) Ross Bolton; and is provided to encourage and support the educational growth of a currently enrolled Guitar Program student.

The scholarship will be awarded in Fall 2013 to a currently enrolled student (US or non-US citizens) in the Associate of Arts in Performance (Guitar) Program who demonstrates overall outstanding musicianship, and the potential for developing their own individual sound or unique voice on the instrument in the Funk and/or R&B style. The scholarship is also designed to support students who are financially challenged, and are able to clearly articulate the basis of their financial need.

The scholarship award of $1,000 will be applied as a tuition discount for the Winter 2014 (Jan. 2014) quarter.

Hosa Technology Sponsors Audio Engineering Scholarship at Musicians Institute!

The Musicians Foundation is pleased to announce the creation of an exciting new scholarship generously sponsored by Hosa Technology, which will be awarded to a newly enrolling student in the Audio Engineering Program at Musicians Institute for Fall 2013.

The winner of the Hosa Technology Audio Engineering Scholarship should be able to clearly articulate their career goals in the music industry, as well as why they should be considered for the scholarship in a 500 word essay. The scholarship award of $1,000 will be applied as a tuition discount for the Fall 2013 quarter. Awardee will also receive a voucher for $250 worth of Hosa products at retail value.

W. Crane Guy Memorial Vocal Scholarship Announced for Fall 2013!

The W. Crane Guy Memorial Vocal Scholarship was created to honor the memory, multiple talents and artistic career of Musicians Institute alumnus W. Crane Guy (class of 2010); and is provided to encourage and support the educational growth of a newly enrolling MI Vocal Program student.

The $2,000 scholarship will be awarded in Fall 2013 to a new student (US or non-US citizens) enrolling in the Associate of Arts in Performance (Vocal) program at MI who demonstrates overall outstanding musicianship, and the potential for developing their own unique voice in any style.

Preference will be given to veterans, but this is not required for eligibility.

The deadline for the scholarship application is August 30th, 2013.

The Musicians Foundation is pleased to announce the 2013 Paiste Cymbals Scholarship to be awarded to a newly enrolling student in the Drum Program at Musicians Institute for Fall 2013.

The winner of the Paiste Cymbals Scholarship should possess a mature musical approach, with an emphasis on expressive cymbal technique. The scholarship award of $1,000 will be applied as a tuition discount for the Fall 2013 quarter, the winner will also receive 4 cymbals from the Paiste Signature Precision line (1 set of H.H.s, 2 – Crash, 1 Ride), to be hand-picked by scholarship winner at the Paiste Factory!
