The winner of the MI 35th Anniversary Vocal Scholarship for spring 2013 is Kansas City, MO native Jonathan Pennington (who specializes in R&B and Pop) and comes to Musicians Institute  having sung and played piano and violin since his early childhood.

Upon learning about his award, Jonathan explains that he chose to study at MI because “I hope to learn the essentials for becoming a professional performer”.

He adds “My dream is to become a well renowned singer/songwriter, performer/arranger in mainstream music.  I want to be in the place where my music can be heard by the common man, and then begin to incorporate the innovative musical ideas that abound in me”.

Everyone at MI congratulates Jonathan on this achievement, which marks a great beginning to his studies. We look forward to seeing him reach his full potential while at MI.

Special thanks to MI’s family of Alumni, whose generous donations fund this scholarship, which helps to provide talented students like Jonathan with the support, tools and recognition they need to launch successful and creative careers in the music industry.
