The spring 2013 Hollywood Chamber of Commerce Community Foundation Vocal Scholarship at Musicians Institute has been awarded to Sioux Falls, SD native Pierce Humke.

Pierce enters the Associate of Arts in Performance (Vocal) program at MI having clearly articulated his career goals of being a successful musician/singer in the required written essay for the HCCCF scholarship award.

Having sung and performed since the age of 6, he is most comfortable singing in acoustic styles, but is also comfortable performing in a wide variety of genres ranging from choral, cantering for church and weddings, tap and jazz styles of dance, live theatre productions – straight plays and musicals – singing with a band, karaoke, and more.

Pierce chose to attend Musicians Institute “because I’m impressed by how well rounded the program is, and the versatility it provides for me.  I want to be learning the contemporary music industry in a setting where there are other like minded people, knowledgeable and supportive faculty and students, and have access to excellent equipment and networking opportunities.  I believe MI has all of this for me”.  While at MI, he hopes to “expand my ability to compose music and write lyrics collaboratively, understand music theory and Apple Logic”.  Pierce shares that his ultimate future aspiration is to “make a living doing what I love.  Singing is what I love most”.

He will receive a complete MI Vocal Program equipment package award:

  • Sennheiser e835 Microphone

  • Sennheiser HD201 Headphones

  • 20 Ft. Male to Female XLR Cable with Adapter

Everyone at MI congratulates Pierce on winning this prestigious award that supports the education and growth of talented, evolving, and very deserving vocalists!

The HCCCF Vocal Scholarships are generously sponsored by The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce Community Foundationas a part of it’s sustaining commitment to support music education opportunities for youth and the growth of the Hollywood community.
