The winner of the spring 2013 MI 35th Anniversary Guitar Scholarship is Rancho Palos Verdes, CA native Wesley Thrailkill who comes to Musicians Institute armed with serious dedication to his guitar playing in hard rock/progressive and  instrumental acoustic guitar styles.

Upon learning about his award, Wesley explained that he chose to study at MI because “I hope to study multiple genres and styles to open up new avenues I haven’t explored yet on the guitar. I chose MI after being invited to meet and see Greg Howe perform at the school awhile back, and realizing all the wonderful opportunities I would be exposed to while attending”.

He adds “My goals are to further myself on an instrument (that means so much to me), as well as make a living playing guitar for the rest of my life”.

Everyone at MI congratulates Wesley on this achievement, which marks a great beginning to his studies. We look forward to seeing him reach his full potential while at MI.

Special thanks to MI’s family of Alumni, whose generous donations fund this scholarship, which helps to provide talented students like Wesley with the support, tools and recognition they need to launch successful and creative careers in the music industry.
