Schecter Jerry Horton Guitar Scholarship Winner: Nicholas Ertel

Nicholas Ertel

Coming to Musicians Institute from Denver, Colorado, talented guitarist Nicholas Ertel has been chosen as winner of the fall 2012 Schecter Jerry Horton Guitar Scholarship, named in honor of the Papa Roach guitarist.

Asked why he decided to attend MI’s Guitar Program, Nicholas states that he wants to “improve my guitar and musicianship skills in improvisation, song writing, music theory, and overall live stage performance while at MI.”

Nicholas sees these skills as an important key to achieving his dream of one day being able to “make a living as a live performing and touring musician.”  He states “I am here to make the world metal, literally and figuratively!”

Everyone at MI welcomes Nicholas to the Guitar Program (GIT) at MI, and congratulates him on winning this very prestigious award!

Special thanks to our longtime industry partner, Schecter Guitar Research for generously sponsoring this scholarship, which helps to provide talented students like Nicholas with the support, tools and recognition they need to launch successful and creative careers in the music industry.
