Schecter Jerry Horton Guitar Scholarship Winner Nicholas Baraban

Talented guitarist Nicholas Baraban has been chosen as winner of the spring 2012 Schecter Jerry Horton Guitar Scholarship, named in honor of the Papa Roach guitarist.

Coming to Musicians Institute from Australia, Nicholas enjoys playing a wide array of blues oriented styles from Delta to Psychedelic to Rock.

Asked why he decided to attend MI’s Guitar Program, he states that he wanted to “become a better musician and begin to master my instrument as well as be a better performer.”

Nicholas sees these skills as an important key to achieving his dream of one day being able to “record and perform my own music and to turn it into a long term career; as well as producing, being a session musician, jingle writing and song writing.”

Everyone at MI welcomes Nicholas to the Guitar Program (GIT) at MI, and congratulates him on winning this very prestigious award!

Schecter Synyster Gates Guitar Scholarship Winner Attila Voros

The Schecter Synyster Gates Guitar Scholarship, created to honor the successful career of GIT grad and Avenged Sevenfold guitarist Synyster Gates, has been awarded to Attila Voros.

Attila comes to Musicians Institute from Hungary and is entering the Associate of Arts in Performance (Guitar) Program having demonstrated outstanding musicianship in both rock and metal genres.

While attending Musicians Institute, Attila will specifically focus on expanding his knowledge of other styles and further develop his improvisational skills. 

Attila’s future career goals include continued world touring (he’s already toured with Nevermore and other bands). Attila states: “I’d like to work hard to become a better songwriter and producer. I can’t imagine myself anywhere else than in the music business as a guitarist, songwriter, and to eventually become a professional producer.”

Everyone at MI congratulates Attila on winning this prestigious award that honors both the growing legacy and career of a Guitar Program alumnus (Synyster Gates) and supports the education and of a talented, evolving, and very deserving rock guitarist!

ESP Guitar Scholarship Winner James William Sanders

The winner of the spring 2012 ESP Guitar Scholarship at Musicians Institute is James William Sanders from Burlington, North Carolina.  

James comes to MI already in possession of a significant rock, funk and jam-oriented vocabulary as well as the technique and musicality to take home this spring’s ESP Guitar award.

James chose to study at MI in order to “further my musical repertoire and study new genres. Music is the only thing in life I can truly put my entire being into, and MI is the only school I’ve found that would help me become the musician I want to be.”

We congratulate James on this achievement, which marks a great beginning to his studies, and we look forward to seeing him reach his full potential while at MI!

ESP Bass Scholarship Winner Dylan Cerminaro

Congratulations to ESP Bass Scholarship winner Dylan Cerminaro, who comes to Musicians Institute from Ojai, Ca. armed with serious chops in metal and funk styles.

Asked why he chose to study in the Bass Program at MI,  Dylan states: “while at MI I want to become a more well-rounded musician and to learn from people who have been successful in the music industry, and I make connections that will stay with me my entire musical career. My dream as a musician is to be in a touring band, playing the music I love.”

Everyone at MI congratulates Dylan on this achievement, which marks a great beginning to his studies. We look forward to seeing him reach his full potential while at MI.

ESP Acoustic Guitar Scholarship Winner Alexander Marthol

Musicians Institute is pleased to announce that Alexander Marthol is the recipient of the spring 2012 ESP Acoustic Guitar Scholarship at MI.  Alexander comes to MI’s Guitar program from Chicago, Illinois specializing in blues, rock, fingerstyle, and pop styles.  

While studying at MI, he plans to “learn the fundamental techniques and theory to become a versatile, well-rounded musician, study several genres and perform with as many musicians as possible at MI. I chose this school because I believe that MI offers an amazing contemporary music education accompanied with exposure to the current trends and topics of today’s music industry.”

After completing MI, Alexander’s goals are to “work as a recording artist/producer, writing and producing for myself and other musicians. I’d like to work in film scoring and open a joint venture record label, signing and releasing music from future artists.” 

Everyone at MI congratulates Alexander on winning this prestigious scholarship award, and we welcome him as he begins his studies and the many great experiences ahead at MI!
