The new vanguard of subtle, intelligent, nuanced, powerful and virtuoso Jazz piano is 32 year old Robert Glasper.

The Blue Note artist with four albums to date (as a leader), comes to The Jazz Bakery at MI Concert Series steeped in a lineage of influence from Bill Evans, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, and Brad Mehldau.

Yet, Glasper is also rooted firmly in the Neo-Soul, Gospel, Hip-Hop, and Soul traditions.  His versatile, articulate melodic voice, harmonic textures rhythmic drive (and the fusion of all three elements) is uniquely his own, but allowing him to be equally at home with Thelonious Monk to Mos Def.
