The Musicians Foundation Board of Directors in Action: ~~Sheila E.~~

Sheila E performs for The Recording Academy's Annual Grammy Block Party in Santa Monica July 30, 2011
The Musicians Foundation is extremely honored to have an absolutely extraordinary Board of Directors!
From time to time, we’d like to feature them on our blog just to give you a peek at the powerful contributions they are making on a daily basis.
Thruout her incredibly successful career as a performer, Sheila E. has continuously inspired and electrified audiences. Some of her most recent musical highlights include: performing with Prince during his “21 Nite Stand” run at The Forum in LA, performing on the season finale of American Idol 2011, The Letterman Show, The E Family performances, and several TV and concert appearances.
Sheila is a very proactive advocate and supporter of musicians rights (she testified on Capitol Hill before the US Senate in support of the Performance Rights Act in 2009), and is an active LA Chapter Governor for The Recording Academy. She has performed at The White House, as well as in dozens of countries worldwide.
As a philanthropist, Sheila co-founded her own non-profit organization in 2001, The Elevate Hope Foundation, which raises funds (thru monetary donations and musical instruments) and raises awareness in order to provide abused and abandoned children an alternative method of therapy through music and the arts.
As a multi-faceted drummer, percussionist, vocalist, songwriter, performer, arranger, producer, composer, instrumentalist and humanitarian, Sheila has brought joy to the world and continues to be respected as one of today’s brightest talents.
In 2010, Musicians Institute awarded Sheila it’s highest honor: Honorary Doctor of Music.
Sheila E. will be performing with David Koz and Bobby Caldwell at THE HOLLYWOOD BOWL on Sunday, August 14th, 2011
