Stanley Clarke Scholarship Concert @MI Concert Hall Jan. 8, 2011 8~10pm. FREE To The Public!


The finalists have been chosen, the celebrity judges will perform and then FIVE talented high school seniors will take the stage to perform two songs each for the prestigious Stanley Clarke Scholarship Finals Concert at the Musicians Institute Concert Hall on Jan. 8, 2011 at 8pm.

Stanley Clarke and panel of music industry celebrity judges will choose TWO talented winners who will receive a scholarship prize of $12,000 each from Stanley and MI, on the basis of musical talent, performing ability, stage presence, musicianship and charisma during the Final Performance Event.

Stanley Clarke

Bassist, composer, producer Clarke, whose prodigious talent, 40 albums and 60 film scores, multiple Grammys, Emmys, critics’ and readers’ polls, and gold and platinum records have made him one of the most recognized and respected names in the annals of contemporary music, has recently earned two 2011 Grammy nominations for The Stanley Clarke Band album (Best Pop Instrumental Performance and Best Contemporary Jazz Album.

He has selflessly and generously created opportunities for talented, emerging musicians to further their education and realize their own creative vision. The Stanley Clarke Scholarship at MI, continues to provide generous financial assistance to outstanding student performers since it was created by Stanley in 2003.  Stanley holds an honorary Doctor of Music degree from MI.

Bunny Brunel

Bass guitarist (performer, composer, arranger, producer and designer) has played with Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter and numerous others.


George Duke

Legendary keyboardist and award winning gold and platinum certified producer.

Greg Phillinganes

Session keyboardist and songwriter has worked/toured with Stevie Wonder, The Bee Gees, Anita Baker, Eric Clapton, Donald Fagen, Aretha Franklin, Patti LaBelle, Michael Jackson, Richard Marx, Paul McCartney and Stevie Nicks among others, He was also the musical director for Michael Jackson’s Bad & Dangerous concert tours.

Larry Dunn

Original member of Earth Wind and Fire, musical director and keyboardist.

Winner of 6 Grammys, 4 American Music Awards, 32 Gold, Platinum/Multi-Platinum Records & Albums, inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame and the Songwriters Hall Of Fame.

Ruslan Sirota

Jazz, funk, fusion and R&B pianist, keyboardist and composer, currently performing with Stanley Clarke.

Howard Hewett

Former lead vocalist of Shalamar, writer, producer, session vocalist. Recorded, produced and/or performed with Jody Watley, Dionne Warwick, LaToya Jackson, Stanley Clarke, George Duke, Stacy Lattisaw, Donna Summer.

Luisa Dunn

Vocalist, has composed, produced, performed and recorded with Hubert Laws, Ramsey Lewis, El Chicano, Ronnie Laws, Keiko Matsui, Mariah Carey, Boys To Men, James Ingram, Alicia Keys, Beyonce Knowles and more.

Percee P Underground hip-hop artist, lyricist, rhyme inspector, and emcee.

Jimmy Paxson Jr.
