Versatile Southern California guitar talent Mark Duran has been named winner of the 2011 Schecter Synyster Gates Guitar Scholarship.
Named for the iconic Avenged Sevenfold guitarist, Schecter artist, and GIT alumnus Synyster Gates, the award recognizes outstanding performance in the heavy rock or metal style by an incoming AA-Guitar student.
Mark comes to MI from La Verne Ca., playing a wide range of styles from Rock, Blues, Funk, Jazz, to Metal and beyond. He decided to attend MI to “become a more complete musician in every aspect of my technique and to learn from and connect with all of the wonderful and amazing talent that this school has to offer. I believe that all of these things are essential for cultivating a successful career in the music industry.”
Everyone at MI welcomes Mark to the fall class of the Guitar Program (GIT), and congratulates him on winning this very prestigious award!
